Lift Kit
Instructions
We suggest you do one Front side at a time.
Congratulations on your lift kit purchase.
Your lift kit has been designed to enhance the operation of
your mini truck and will provide years of trouble free service.
Your kit is designed with the camber adjustment built into
the strut tops. Your lift kit was
designed to allow for the optimum camber setting while maintaining the strength
of the suspension system.
Rear Shackles:
Lift one side at a time at the rear portion of the frame of
the truck.
1.) Loosen
and then remove the old shackle.
Removing the bushings at the same time as you remove the shackle makes
this task easier.
2.) Assembling
the new extended shackle. The
assembly will be bolt-plate-flat washer-bushing.
a. The
bolts used are ½” diameter and can be changed out to a 14mm diameter in
locations if you are not comfortable with the additional clearance of the ½”
bolt.
b. If
you do change out to a 14mm bolt you will need to open the shackle plate bolt
hole to accommodate the change.
3.) Shocks: The shocks are now at or near full extension. With the usage of the lifted
shackle and you may choose to upgrade to an extended shock at this time. See your Distributor for this optional
component.
4.) Strut Tops: This is done one side at a time. Adding the strut tops is accomplished by removing the 3 nuts
(depends on the year of your truck) from the top of the strut. (this is not the large single nut at the
top middle of your strut.)
5.) After
you have removed and saved the strut top attachment nuts you have just removed,
lift the side of the truck (lift from the frame) to allow the strut and front
wheel assembly to be brought down to allow you to insert the strut top.
a. Sometimes
it will require you to remove the two lower strut bolts to allow the strut to
be swung out to allow room to install the tops.
b. Use
the removed nuts to attach the strut tops to the top of the strut. Be sure to re-torque to mfg
specifications.
c. Re-insert
strut and insert the bolts provided.
If the nuts are center locks and don’t require locking washers to hold
together. If washers are provided
they can be used if desired.
d. Re
attach and tighten any remaining bolts, fasteners and previously removed items.
6.) Camber Plates:
a.) separate
camber plates are provided in instances that prohibit the design of camber
offset within the strut top. If
you have this additional item you can choose not to use them.
b.) If
you want or need to make a camber adjustment then the plates will need to be
added to the struts. This requires
the struts be removed from the vehicle.
Separate instruction is provided
for camber plate installation.
7.) Test the system.
a.) With
the wheels still hanging free of the ground rotate the wheels to assure there
is no binding of the CV joints. This is best done with the steering wheel
turned full right, center and then full left. If binding is felt then you may wish to investigate
additional options such as a body lift kit.
b.) Your
lift kit is now complete. Prior to
each time you drive your mini truck is advised that you check your vehicle and
all components for tightness of fasteners.
